Art History: WWII, Abstract Expressionism, and Minimalism
Abstract Expressionism: A place for your emotions to escape into
Minimalism: Taking everything out including emotion
Artist of Inspiration: Mark Bradford
Directions:
Step 1:
Brainstorm materials that you could use for an interesting texture that relates to the emotional story you are trying to tell
Step 2:
Photograph someone with good lighting with the expression that tells the story
Use materials that you find around your house to create a texture that will enhance the emotion or story you are trying to communicate
- Think about balance: Composition needs to be thoughtful: Choose between a Symmetrical, Asymmetrical, or Radial Composition
- Try to choose one object/ texture and arrange it in an interesting way
- High quality application of materials
- Good use of the elements and principles
- Good focal point to draw you in and add interest
- It needs to not look like a bunch of junk is just glued down. How can you layer materials in a sophisticated way that looks like a high quality work of art?
