Name Tag Design Exercise:
Lesson: The Language of Art = The Elements
The Element of Line:
Do all of these feel right to you? Which of these emotions are communicated effectively?
The Element of Color:
Step 1: Create a name design using the elements of line and color.
Create a name tag using materials you find around your house. Try to design it in a way that shows YOUR PERSONALITY. The size should be a minimum of 4"x10" but it can always be larger. For my name tag, I used a bunch of mixed up string and I used it to expresses how I like to create structure in chaos. I also like to find a use for items that others might typically throw away.
Step 2: How to take a good photo of your artwork
This assignment is also practice on how you need to take and submit photos of your work.
-You will need to submit 1 photo of YOU HOLDING YOUR ARTWORK where I can see your face and your work in the same image. (example attached)
- You will also submit a second photo that is a CLOSEUP OF THE ARTWORK itself. There should be good lighting and editing in both photos. (example attached and detailed instructions below)

1. Find a place with good lighting. Near a window, under a patio, in the sun if your shadow isn't in the way
2. Take the photo straight down and make sure the edges of the artwork and photo are parallel and that you are about an inch away from the edge of the artwork. If you take the photo too far away and have to do a lot of cropping, you will also lose clarity and quality.
3. Finish editing your photo in your phone or on the computer. Crop it and adjust the brightness and contrast.
Step 3: How do your choices relate to your personality?
When submitting the two jpg photos, you also need to answer the question... How does your name tag relate to your personality? This response needs to be typed in the private comment box inside of the assignment on google classroom.
